Getting on top of DA

Sun Aug 23, 2009, 2:55 AM
Tally ho!

Right, I've gone through the hundreds of messages in my Inbox, and thanked everyone who has faved, commented and watched my work and or myself. Thank-you once again for your patience, and apologies for not being as organised on DA as I am with other things.

I have posted a nice piece of art (well, I think it's nice!) to show everyone that I'm still arting about, and that I would like to get back into it asap. The music video :iconruskibanjo:, :iconcookiepoppet: and I have been working on is nearly complete, so I can get back to making Compositing my day job and Artwork my hobby.

Keep watching the Skies!

PS: Oh, anyone with a Music taste should check out Black Lab, that is if you haven't already. They write excellent melodic rock/techno rock, and are one of the nicest Bands I have ever come across. I bought a limited release (250 pressed) b-sides album from their website, only to be informed that they had over estimated it's popularity and ended up selling many more. Since they didn't want to refund everyone's money, those who payed will be getting a copy when a new batch has been pressed. But the nicest thing was that they let us download the album for free! So we can listen to it while we wait for the real thing to arrive! Awesomeness...

Better at some point in time then never!

Hello Journal Readers,

I seem to apologise a lot in my journals, mainly because I update as regularly as a hobo changes his boots. Once again, I apologise for the lack of deviations and general communication. I will one day get around to thanking all those wonderful people who favourite'd my work and commented. It all does mean a lot to get feedback, as you take the time out of your schedule to do so.

My sparse appearances on DA is mainly due to work, which while being a Paint and roto artist at a highly regarded VFX company has it's perks, the hours are unforgivably nasty. While I do a 9 hour day, it takes me an hour and a half to commute into work and back as it is, which leaves me little time to do anything I want let alone Artwork. This won't be for very long, as I am currently a statistic in that I have no longer got a paying Job. I do however have a fair few things to get done at home, compositing wise. I have been doing the odd doodle here and there, and have been helping a colleague out with concept, but nothing I feel is finished enough to submit.

Doctor Who drawings I'm sad to say aren't in my current sketchbook, but I want to get back into it. My style is changing slightly and I want to see how people react. There are still loads of characters and ideas I want to get down on paper and digitally beautify.

The Lun-comic will be underway once I am redundant from work.

As always, watch the skies.

I am amassing my Cyber Army

Journal Time, mainly because that questionnaire was look ing a bit old hat.

Well, I’ve added a few updates. Most of which just quick doodles done in my spare time while I wither away at a job I enjoy but find drains me of the will to do anything else anymore. Contrary to an older journal saying I would not be promoted until April, back in November I did indeed move on from the degrading world of cleaning up after animators. Having been promoted from runner (aka sandwich monkey, aka doormat, aka kiss arse etc) to Junior Paint and Roto Artist (aka Paint monkey, aka Roto monkey etc) I find myself having a better sense of worth, and have seen my name of the credits of a Hollywood blockbuster, which can only be a good thing. But as I said before, my time is now even shorter, and I have to try extra harder to make time for artwork these days.

But my lack of time has its upsides. Wishing not to jinx it, I am in the best of moods I have been since I was a naive and innocent little hatchling. As well as my job going well (until my inevitable/possible contract termination) the Band too is doing well, recording and writing is good and we have started playing five a-side football on a regular basis. Most of all, I am in a relationship with a wonderful woman and hope to remain so. This relationship is so much more then anything I thought would ever happen to me. She is brilliant.

Anyway, back to the discussion of artwork. The Dr Who and such like drawings I do for fun, and happen spontaneously. If I like them enough I’ll colour them. The Luntara comics, even though I enjoy them, I have to be in the right frame of mind to do them. This involves having the script, the time and a reason. I do these comics primarily for the enjoyment of the band, and as a semi-chronological recording of our journey as a musical group. Even though the band and myself like them, other than us I don’t feel as if there is a demand for them as no one else asks when the next one will be up. Ever. Or if they have, I have forgotten (and a thousand apologies for that) or they haven’t asked recently. Nevertheless, I currently have three in the works at the moment, and well as plenty of scripts. :iconnecrolan: has kindly offered to ink them, while :iconsubzerotolerance: will honour us with the colouring.

I will get round to thanking everyone for the favs and whatnot!

In recent news, in regars to the journal title I purchased a full set of [link] And these things are a thing of beauty. =D

Also, I want to offer you Tea [link] and something to eat.

There’s probably a lot more I could say at the moment, but I am in a lot of pain from tonsillitis so I will bid you all farewell for now!

Must... update... journal....

Thank-you to those who got me to over 4000 pageviews! it makes me feel good. I decided to upload another Luntara piece as a thank-you. The Luntara Comic is hopefully going to return soon, as soon as I get back into the swing of things. My Dr Who drawings are all based on Boredom sketched from work, but are fun enough to be coloured and put online. There is a slight pattern to the Dr. Whoodles; everytime I buy a figure I draw the character. So if its a cool figure, I would have bough it with my paycheck and it will appear on here.

Anyways, life is good at the moment =D long may it last. Halloween Party soon, need to finish costume. No prizes for guessing WHO I'm going as. New Kaiser Chiefs album is actually excellent, a prospect most of my friends from the metal community will cringe at me saying. Its well written, psychedelic and catchy, all i want for a light rock band.

Oh and incidentally: [link]
